Xiujing Zhao is a Ph.D. candidate in Exercise Science in the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas. He has experience as a strength coach for various national teams in China before beginning a series of impressive research endeavors in thermoregulation and fluid balance with his supervisor, Dr. McDermott, since arriving at the University of Arkansas in 2022. As a senior graduate student researcher in the Heat & Hydration Optimization (H2O) Lab, he has excelled in lab training by assisting in several research projects related to heat stress and hydration. With the research data, he has presented oral or poster presentations at national and regional professional conferences, such as the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) annual meeting and the American Physiological Society (APS) Summit.
