Dr. Debra Stroiney is an Assistant Professor in the School of Kinesiology at George Mason University. Prior to working in a university setting she was a teacher and practitioner in fitness, health and dance. At George Mason she is the Exercise Is Medicine On Campus advisor working with departments throughout the University to promote physical activity as a means of improving physical and mental health. Her past research has examined motivation, self-regulation, and exercise adherence. Dr. Stroiney has also published multiple studies on the use of self-myofascial release and its effects on exercise performance. Dr. Stroiney brings her past experiences in the health and fitness field to the classroom, providing students with curriculum that emphasizes experiential learning.
