Leah Allen is a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Connecticut, currently working towards her Ph.D. in Nutritional Sciences. She holds a Master of Science in Sports Science and Performance Optimization, completing her Master’s thesis titled The Validity and Reliability of the Bilateral Athletic Shoulder Test, and a Bachelor of Science with honors in Exercise Science and Therapeutic Recreation from Lindenwood University. Her research interests include body composition, dietary and metabolic assessments, load monitoring, athlete wellness, nutritional interventions, and overall female health, with a growing interest in the nutritional, physiological, and psychological demands of ROTC cadets and tactical populations. Leah has over three years of clinical research experience and has gained applied sport science experience through work with NCAA Division I athletes, previously monitoring training load and athlete wellness for the Lindenwood University Men’s Volleyball team. She is currently involved in performance and nutrition research at UConn.
