Elena Cantu MA, CSCS is the Sport Scientist for Women's Soccer at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a recent graduate of UNC's Exercise Physiology master's program, where she investigates topics of sport science and female physiology in the Applied Physiology Laboratory under the direction of Dr. Abbie Smith-Ryan. Prior to Chapel Hill, she graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After a Sports Performance internship at Stanford University, she discovered her passion for coaching and got certified as a Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS). Her research interests are centered around evaluating all aspects of performance in female populations, specifically creating scientific-based practical applications to improve health and performance in female athletes.
