Hello, my name is Lauren Distad. I recently graduated from George Mason University with a B.S in Biology and a Minor in Data Analytics. As a Division I women’s lacrosse athlete interested in research, I began working with Dr. Margaret Jones in the Patriot Performance Laboratory at George Mason University. My research interests consist of injury prevention and neuromuscular performance in accordance with how internal and external load-monitoring metrics can be integrated to support athlete health. Most recently, I studied patellar tendon adaptations throughout a competitive season in women’s volleyball athletes, using ultrasound technology alongside self-reported wellness measures to monitor tendon health. I’m passionate about the use of emerging technologies in sports science for preventative measures to keep athletes on the playing field. I plan to attend medical school in the fall of 2026 to continue my education and research interests.
