Undergraduate Student
University of Kansas
Hello, my name is Mason Thieu, and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Kansas majoring in Exercise Science. Growing up, I enjoyed playing tennis and other sports, which sparked my interest in the research of youth athlete development. With the support of Dr. Quincy Johnson and the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Laboratory, I’ve had the opportunity to work directly with promising youth athletes in the Lawrence area. Our research aims to better understand the unique differences between youth athletes and older populations, as well as to develop training programs that enhance athletic development while minimizing the risk of injury. As an undergraduate researcher, I have been honored to receive two KU Undergraduate Research Awards, a KU Research Symposium Outstanding Presentation Award, and to present at two regional conferences. As I enter my senior year, I look forward to continuing this research and sharing new findings at future conferences.
