Dr. Robert Smith is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist who has recently accepted a position of Assistnat Professor of Exercise Science at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.
As an educator, Dr. Smith emphasizes the mentor model where students are taught, in addition to their classroom experience, in an applied manner through laboratory and field-based methods. As a practitioner, he has worked as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and weightlifting coach. Dr. Smith utilizes the combination of teaching experience in the classroom and practical experience in the field to offer students foundational knowledge relevant to the field of exercise and hands-on practice to provide a well-rounded educational experience.
Dr. Smith’s research interests focus on the effects of fatigue on skeletal muscle function using non-invasive techniques such as electromyography and mechanomyography, as well as the examination of the interactions between performance fatigability and perceived fatigability under different exercise conditions.
